An introduction to Will Molony

Your career to date?
I help clients create, restore and preserve their financial well being.

Embarking on my financial services career in March 1978, for the first 25 years I was employed by a large insurance company; since January 2003 I have worked in the independent sector and selected Honister Partners Ltd as my service provider.

As an independent financial adviser I hold full diploma qualifications through the Chartered Insurance Institute in the following areas: protection, savings, investments, taxation, trusts, long term care fees planning, pensions and pension income options.

What do you specialise in?
On the approach to retirement, people are faced with many options in order to achieve the best from their hard earned retirement savings. My qualifications allow me to take the strain, so I can help clients to make the right choice; thus securing their long term financial well being.

If you could offer one piece of financial advice to an individual, what would it be and why?
Financial planning shouldn’t be complicated. The aim is to provide financial security which can mean different things, to different people at different times of their lives. Planning often involves ensuring that resources are used to support goals for the future as well as protecting what is important in the present. There are many different products, services, tax solutions, insurance plans and funds, so spend time to make the financial plan comprehensive and then review it on a regular basis.

Which areas of financial planning do you feel an individual should be addressing in the next 2 years?
While interest rates are relatively low, address and reduce debt month by month, slowly but surely.

What is the most common mistake you find individuals make in financial planning?
Putting off making a robust financial plan can be costly.

As an independent financial adviser what, for you, are the main benefits of being a part of Honister Partners Ltd?
The fee that I pay for Honister’s services gives me access to extensive research tools, quality assurance audits, compliance facilities, professional indemnity cover, IT services and training. This means that clients have the re-assurance of properly backed advice while dealing with an individual who is accountable for ongoing service.
