An introduction to Tom Butterly

Your career to date?
I am a strong believer in personal development and each stage of my career to date has been incremental. I began my career within an engineering environment, progressing to running my own distribution company, before I decided on a change in career direction and qualified as an independent financial adviser providing a service along with financial advice for over 10 years.

My past experiences have allowed me to appreciate that service and advice needs to be individually tailored to deal with changing circumstances. I like to develop a personal rapport with clients and attempt to equate expectations with reality. It is a demanding industry, but the rewards of dealing with the general public are immeasurable.

What do you specialise in?
Inheritance tax, investment, retirement and wealth preservation planning.

What is your strongest childhood memory?
My father meeting me from school on my birthday with my first bike.

What is your favourite piece of music?
Balcony Scene (Romeo and Juliet).

You have one flight, where would you go and why?
To see the Northern Lights, because of their natural beauty.

Who would be your three guests at a dream dinner party?
Ellen MacArthur, Clive Woodward and Ricky Gervais.

Fact.

Neither, Virgin.

What was the last major change in your life and why?
Carpe Diem! Due to family ill health.

Neither, Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee.
